The following is a list of questions frequently asked by citizens. You may search for specific words or phases, or shorten the list by selecting a specific category.
Building Permits
|
|
Other than normal repairs and minor improvements, not involving structural changes and costing less than $4,000, you must have a building permit for alterations to your building or property. Contact the Administrative Services Department at 615-292-5531 to apply for a permit or for a determination as to whether one is required.

The building permit fee is based on the value of the improvements and the number of inspections required.
|
|
|
Berry Hill has adopted the 2006 International Building Code and the 2006 International Residential Code.
|
|
|
If your property is in Berry Hill, you do not need a Metro building permit, but you may need a plumbing, electrical or mechanical permit from Metro. You may apply for these Metro permits after you receive your Berry Hill building permit.

City Court
|
|
Payment must reach us prior to your court date. Pay cash or money order to City of Berry Hill, 698 Thompson Lane, Nashville, TN 37204. Fines are listed on the back of your citation. Call us if you have any questions about the amount.If you mail payment, make sure we have your name & correct address to send a receipt.

A Court Action Report will be sent to the TN Dept of Safety to initiate suspension of your driver's license. When you pay us (by cash or money order) the full amount due to us, we will give you paperwork to take to the Dept of Safety to show them you have taken care of your Berry Hill citation.

We need to receive proof that you attended an approved traffic school before our next court date. This is very important. If we do not receive this, a Court Action Report will be sent to the TN Dept of Safety to initiate suspension of your license.

No, just cash or money orders. If you mail your payment to us, please send a money order. Do not send cash through the mail.

You should be here (698 Thompson Lane) before 2:15 p.m. on your court day to sign in and be seated. Court begins promptly at 2:30 p.m.

Have any necessary repairs done so your lights are working, then bring your car to show us that your lights are working prior to your court date. If you do this, we will give you a repair receipt and you will not owe a fine on this charge.

In Berry Hill City Hall in the dark grey building that says "City of Berry Hill" at 698 Thompson Lane (across from the Pepsi plant, in between Calypso Cafe and Woodlawn Cemetary). We're only a couple blocks from 100 Oaks Mall. You are welcome to park in our free parking lot on East Iris Drive next to our building.

We are allowed to change your court date once, if we are notified in advance that you need to change the date. Call 615/292-5531 to reschedule your court date. Do not call us to reschedule after court has begun. We cannot reschedule if you MISS your court date, so please notify us in advance if this is necessary. Remember, we can only reschedule it once.

No, you only may talk to the judge about your citation during your appearance in open court on your assigned court day.
|
|
|
Yes,be sure to come to court as scheduled. When you're appearing before the judge, ask the judge for additional time to pay. The judge is the only one who can allow you to pay after your court date. Normally, payment is due in full on your court day, but the judge may give you extra time if requested.

General City Information
|
|
The administrative offices at City Hall are open Monday through Friday, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm. The police dispatch office, also located at City Hall, is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
|

|
The Azalea Park picnic shelter and the Berry Hill Community Center (located at 404 East Iris Drive near City Hall) may be reserved for noncommercial purposes. There are six large picnic tables at Azalea Park. There is seating for approximately 30 people in the main room of the Community Center. Berry Hill residents and businesses may reserve on a first come/first served basis up to one year in advance. Nonresidents may reserve on a first come/first served basis up to one month in advance. There is no charge for the using the community center or park shelter if you clean up after your event. To reserve, call City Hall at (615) 292-5531.

Contact the Administrative Services Office at 615-292-5531 to have your house added to the residential trash collection list.
|
|
|
Residential trash collection is every Tuesday and Friday.
|

Berry Hill has four parks:
Azalea Park, which is our largest park and has a picnic shelter, is located on Azalea Drive near Thompson Lane.
Columbine Park is located at the intersection of Columbine Place and East Iris Drive.
Iris Park is located on East Iris Drive off Thompson Lane.
Rosedale Park is located on Rosedale Place near Rosedale Avenue.
